In a recent interaction with a tabloid, the veteran actor opened up on how it is becoming easier to get roles that are suited for her age. She said, “It is certainly becoming easier for women of my age to get work. I don’t believe in the kind of work that is designed around an actor. I don’t find that very interesting, frankly, because when you focus on the actor rather than the story, then you get limited by the personality of the actor. I won’t get the chance to challenge myself. It is a very good time for actors of all ages and genders, not just the binary to work.”
Earlier this year, the actor spoke at the Jashn-e-Rekhta and said that seeing the newer crop of actors unable to master any language is a huge let down for her. There is no command over the language, nor is there any desire to learn it either. She went on to say “When I work with younger actors now, especially in films, in order to keep it real, they have a very different pattern. It’s unclear and on one tone. They eat their words, do not complete it. I get so hurt seeing that. And when you ask them to be clear, they will speak taking breaks. They cannot do it smoothly. ”
