Satish Kaushik passes away: Anupam Kher, Rakesh Roshan, Manoj Bajpayee and other Bollywood stars

Veteran Bollywood actor-writer-director Satish Kaushik – remembered as ‘Calendar’ in the film ‘Mr. India’ – passed away at age 67, on Wednesday.
His friend, actor Anupam Kher shared the news in a tweet early Thursday morning that read, “I know “death is the ultimate truth of this world!” But I never thought even in my dreams that I would write this about my best friend #SatishKaushik while I was alive. Such a sudden full stop on 45 years of friendship!! Life will never be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!”

Following the announcement, several Bollywood personalities took to their social media handles to pay tribute to the multifaceted artiste and share their fondest memory of him. Bollywood veterans from Subhash Ghai to Ashoke Pandit, Rakesh Roshan to Soni Razdan, Madhur Bhandarkar to Manoj Bajpayee, Kangana Ranaut and many others took to their handles to mourn Satish’s demise.

“It’s just heart shattering news that we lost our one best friend #DEAR SATISH – a man who always laughed even in worst crisis and stood by anyone in his crisis “ A great artiste. Greater human being greatest friend I know. He left us so sudden so soon,” Ghai wrote in a statement.

Manoj took to Twitter to share his shock in a post that read, “Completely shocked to read this! What a great loss for all of us and his family! Condolences to his family & friends! May you rest in peace Satish Bhai!”

Resul Pookutty wrote, “Shocked wake up to this news of the sudden demise of @satishkaushik2 Ji. He was always full of life, warm and nice to everyone around. You will be missed dearly. May his soul Rest In Peace”

Soni Razdan grieved Satish’s demise saying, “Hard to come to terms with this.”

Sham Kaushal, the father of actor Vicky Kaushal wrote, “Very shocking & saddening. Om Shanti.”

Madhur shared a throwback photo with the actor and wrote, “I am so shocked to hear the demise of actor-director Satish Kaushik ji, who was always vibrant, energetic and full of life, he will be missed immensely by the film fraternity & millions of admires, My deepest condolences to his family members.”

Born in Haryana, Kaushik was an alumnus of the NSD and the FTII, and started his film career in the early 1980s. He penned the dialogues for the 1983 classic ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’, which acquired a cult following over the years.

He is known for his comic roles as ‘Calendar’ in ‘Mr. India’, ‘Pappu Pager’ in ‘Deewana Mastana’ among many others. Kaushik also gave sterling performances in other films like ‘Ram Lakhan’ and ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’.

He directed Sridevi’s film, ‘Roop Ki Rani, Choron Ka Raja’ and later ‘Prem’, but both films failed at the box office. He later got his big hit with ‘Hum Aapke Dil Me Rehte Hain’ and ‘Tere Sang’, among many others.

Satish made his last public appearance at Javed Akhtar’s Holi party on March 7, where he posed for photos and shared happy clicks with his B-town friends.
