Shah Rukh Khan who was in Kolkata for the inauguration of the 28
th Kolkata International Film Festival on Thursday once again gave more than one reason for the Bengalis to love him. King Khan who is known for his smart answers and humour confessed his love for the city of joy with some really witty but honest comments.

What was more interesting is he tried his best to give his speech in Bengali as he had promised the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. While speaking at the stage the first thing Shah Rukh said is ‘Kamon achen apnara, bhalo to?’ (How are you all? Everything is good?). He further stated how happy he is to be in Kolkata after a long time.

Interestingly, he also confessed that the Bengali portion of his speech has been made by his dear friend Rani Mukerji who also attended the inauguration ceremony. So if there’s anything wrong then everyone should ask Rani. He further insisted that it feels great to be with all the dignitaries at the 28
th KIFF.

Shah Rukh also spoke about the importance of cinema has a medium. He said that cinema has become the most important medium of modern times. It has an even more important role to play now because of the advent of social media. The actor added that social media is often driven by certain narrowness of view that limits human nature to be broad and open minded. He somewhere read that negativity increases social media consumption and thereby increases its commercial value as well. And to keep a balance cinema needs to be more responsible and handle the situation with utmost care.

The inaugural ceremony of the prestigious film festival was held at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. The inauguration was done by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Arijit Singh, Kumar Sanu, Sourav Ganguly and many other eminent personalities from the Kolkata film fraternity.
