Shekhar Kapur wrote, “In #MrIndia @AnilKapoor wore the same jacket, same shirt and trousers, same hat and shoes throughout the film. Most of it from Chor Bazaar. He still has the whole costume in the cupboard and 30 years later still fits him Anil, let’s have a pic in that costume now. Happy Birthday”
Anil Kapoor retweeted him and said that maybe he would try it soon.
He further added, “To a man that believes you are as young as you believe you are. To a man so devoted to his work and to his family .. to my friend that I just don’t see often enough .. happy birthday @AnilKapoor”

A user replied to Shekhar and Anil, and took a dig at the film-makers and designers in today’s day and age. She wrote, “A today’s ‘Mr India’ outfit would have been designed by one of the best designers in India. MR INDIA was relatable because it resonated with the common man’s struggle. That’s a cult film now. I’ve got it in my collection ”
