A daily wage labourer, who earns Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month, got an income tax notice of Rs 14 crore in Bihar’s Rohtas. He said that he wouldn’t be able to pay for it even if he sold his entire property.

By India Today Web Desk: A Bihar-based daily wage labourer, who earns Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month was shocked to his core as he received an income tax notice of Rs 14 crore at his house in Rohtas. He received a notice from the Income Tax Department asking him to pay Rs 14 crore in return.
The labourer identified as Manoj Yadav said that he wouldn’t be able to pay it even if he sold his entire property.

MANY COMPANIES RUNNING IN HIS NAME
On Monday, some income tax officials arrived at his residence in Kargarhar and said that many companies are running in his name and returns of around Rs 14 crore are pending.

He was shocked to see the notice. During interrogation, he told the officers that he was a daily wage labourer and would not be able to pay the tax even if he sold his entire property.
Manoj also revealed that he worked in Delhi and other states and had submitted his PAN card and Aadhaar card to open a bank account. He feels that his documents must have been used by some miscreants to commit fraud.
The income tax department officials were eventually convinced that he had not committed any fraud and returned.
