Swara Bhasker opens up on the ‘Besharam Rang’ controversy, says ‘communal frenzy is a good way to be

Ever since the first song of ‘Pathaan’, ‘Besharam Rang’ featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone has been unveiled, it’s become the centre of many controversies. It also led to ‘Boycott Pathaan’ trending on Twitter. But many feel that this sort of attention towards the song or flak is unnecessary.

Swara Bhasker has opened up on the ‘Besharam Rang’ song row. Swara exclusively spoke to Etimes and said, “Ministers and elected representatives, who frankly should focus their attention on real issues of their constituents and the public, find that targeting Muslims or whipping up communal frenzy is a good way to be in the news.”

Swara further added, “We live in times when the ruling party and its ideological parent, the RSS, claim to be a champion of Hindus and claim to speak on behalf of all Hindus – which is patently untrue and the minions of that party are simply following the example. They use people’s faith for political gain and frankly that’s despicable and dangerous.”

Swara had put up a story with a screenshot and said, “Miliye humare desh ke sattadhari netaon se. Abhinetriyon ke kapde dekhne se fursat milti, toh kya pata kuch kar bhi lete (Meet our country’s appointed leaders. They may have done some work, had they had some time left after ogling at female actor’s costumes.)”

Amidst all the controversy though, the makers of ‘Pathaan’ unveiled another song from the film, ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’. Meanwhile SRK had reacted to this trolling and controversy with his quintessential calm and charm as he said at KIFF, “Duniya kuch bhi kahe. Main aur aap, hum positive log abhi zinda hai (People can say what they want, but you and I, positive people are still alive).

‘Pathaan’ is set to release on January 25.
