By Abdul Basheer: High political drama erupted on Tuesday in Hyderabad’s Somajiguda area after police dragged away the car of YSRTP founder and chief YS Sharmila Reddy with the help of a crane, even as she sat inside it in protest against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Sharmila, who is the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was later detained by the Hyderabad Police as she proceeded to gherao Pragathi Bhavan, the office of CM.
Shocking scenes played out after Sharmila, along with several other YSRTP workers, were stopped by the police a kilometre away from the CM’s house. Sharmila was driving an SUV which was towed away by a crane while she still sat inside.
Reportedly, Sharmila locked the vehicles from inside and later, the police had to call a locksmith to open the gates of the car.
Meanwhile, Sharmila’s mother, YS Vijayamma, left her house in Hyderabad to meet her daughter.
Sharmila was briefly detained even on Monday after a clash broke out between supporters of YSRTP and the ruling Bharata Rashtra Samithi in Warangal.
Visuals of the incident show the cracked windshield of the vehicle in which Sharmila can be seated. The SUV was damaged in yesterday’s clash.
Sharmila had given a call to gherao CM’s residence to protest against the recent attacks by “TRS goons” at YSRTP workers and leaders during her padyatra yesterday in Warangal.
