By Jitendra Bahadur Singh: Sticky bomb and steel bullets were used in the attack in which five Army jawans were killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, sources told India Today.
Sticky bombs are explosive devices attached to vehicles and can be remotely detonated or set off by timers.
According to sources, a forensic team collected all the samples, including 36 rounds of bullets fired at the Army truck. The forces have also recovered two grenade pins from the truck. Statements of three paramedics who helped evacuate a soldier were also recorded.
Vapours of Kerosene were also found, the sources said.
Steel bullets were also used in the attack, sources told India Today.
According to reports, these are armour-piercing 7.62 MM steel core bullets and were made in China.
The modus operandi of the attack seemed similar to that of the attack that occurred in Katra last year.
A massive search operation by the Army, state police and paramilitary forces was underway. About 2,000 commandos were deployed for a search operation.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has shared a report with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in connection with the attack.
According to defence sources, seven terrorists belonging to two groups were involved in the terror attack.
Sources also claimed terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based groups were involved in the attack.
The terrorists carried out the attack with the help of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) over-ground workers who are active in J&K’s Rajouri, said intelligence sources.
Earlier, India Today had received information that the Jaish-backed terror group, People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) claimed responsibility for the attack.
However, it is possible that LeT terrorists were involved in the attack.
