By Santosh Kumar Sharma: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of the accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. Seven accused have been accused of the brazen murder of Umesh Pal in Prayagraj last week.
Prayagraj Commissioner of Police, Ramit Sharma, said 10 police teams have been formed to probe the murder of Umesh Pal, the prime witness in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Arbaaz, one of the accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, who was shot dead in an encounter in Prayagraj’s Nehru Park on Monday, had a bounty of Rs 50,000 for his arrest.
The commissioner of police said the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force had arrested Sadaqat Khan, one of the key accused in the Umesh Pal murder case.
Police scanned CCTV footage of the day Umesh Pal was shot dead outside his residence and found that the assailants came in a Creta car and two bikes.
Sharma said the car was being driven by Arbaaz at the time of Umesh Pal’s murder. Arbaaz didn’t get down from the car and took over the driver’s seat and drove ahead after the assailants got down from the vehicle.

On Monday, Arbaaz was trying to flee on a bike when police chased him and killed him in an encounter. Police recovered a pistol from him after the encounter.
During the encounter, the station house officer of Dhoomaganj police station got injured in the arm.
The commissioner of police further said that the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force arrested Sadaqat Khan, a resident of Ghazipur and one of the key accused in the case. The accused hatched the conspiracy to kill Umesh Pal in a “room of a Muslim hostel”, the commissioner of police said.
Police said the accused were using Whatsapp calls to communicate with each other. Further investigation is underway.
